Managing Kditor A wild throng of 400 welcomed, cheered, and serenaded the returning Don Basketball team Sunday. And perhaps the melee is best described as Magna Cutn Rowdy. The students took over the airport in a frenzied demonstration of spirit, as they carried the team members on their shoulders and chanted college-type boola- boolas. Frightened visitors to the airport cowered in fear and ran into hiding as the reverberations of the shrieks preceded the marchers. These words were spoken by a beloved friend and former president of the University upon his return to the campus Sunday for the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the dedication of Gleeson Library. * Father William Dunne, S.J., spoke to an overflow crowd of students, alumni, and friends in the Sky Room of the Library. His talk was presented by the Gleeson Library Associates. Father Dunne was president of U.S.F. from 1937 to 1954. After his introduction by Fr. Monihan, S.J., Fr. Dunne said that it gave him great pleasure to be speaking in the Library which had always been a project dear to his heart. He remarked jokingly that at the time of the Library's construction many thought that the plant was too large and that now it seems the Library staff will welcome the quarters soon to be vacated by the Law School. He also paid tribute to all who have helped the Library. go, BOOM, BOOM," they chanted, pounding the walls of the structure and stamping their feet. The spiritesd students, who would fit in well in the atmosphere of any Latin American university, held an impromptu rally in the airport, with the song girls and cheerleaders cavorting on the counters and the students cranking sirens as they yelled. Coach Pete Peletta subdued the crowd somewhat and told them: "You have a team you can be proud of. We come home with two victories." The rally was carried over to the campus, where the cheerleaders ascended to the heights of the roof over the entrance —Continued on Page 13 Special Events Friday — Brigadoon, Campion Hall Auditorium; Soph Drag, Empire Room, Sir Francis Drake Hotel.
